About Universal Spirit Center

About Our Center

No single philosophy or religion can contain all that the Infinite is. We are an inclusive spiritual community based on the teachings of Ernest Holmes’ Science of Mind and Spirit. This is the foundation of our teachings and spiritual practice. These teachings and practices empower us to live as our authentic selves and deepen our connection with the Universal Spirit within all people. No matter who you are or where you are in your life journey, you are welcome here

Universal Spirit Center was founded in 2001 and continues to be a place of transformation and service to the community. We are affiliated with Centers for Spiritual Living, headquartered in Golden, Colorado.

We are an inclusive and thriving spiritual community creating experiences of Divine Love for individual and global awakening.

Kevin Bucy

About Our Minister

Reverend Kevin Bucy is a wonderful blend of compassion, humor, intellect and a deep love of God. His professional background in social services and his deep faith merge to make him an extraordinary Religious Science Minister. In 1992 he was looking for a spiritual home that felt authentic and made sense to him. The first church he walked in to was Pacific Church of Religious Science with Rev. Dr. Kathy Hearn. The philosophy resonated with his background in psychology and his personal spiritual beliefs. He began taking classes and soon found himself on the path of becoming a minister. Kevin completed  the three year process of acquiring a Masters of Divinity from the Holmes Institute.

As a minister, he rose to become Interim Spiritual Leader when Rev. Hearn stepped down. In 2001 Kevin began discerning the idea of creating a new church. After months of prayer, contemplation and visioning Midtown Church of San Diego opened its doors in Hillcrest in September 2001. In 2009 Midtown Church became Universal Spirit Center.

When asked what lead him to start the church Kevin said, “I wanted to create a spiritual center that was welcoming to all people, a community that focused on divine love.” He has achieved this and has built a beautiful, loving community for spiritual awakening.

Ernest Holmes' Declaration of Principles

WE BELIEVE in God, the Living Spirit Almighty; one, indestructible, absolute and self-existent Cause. This One manifests Itself in and through all creation, but is not absorbed by Its creation. The manifest universe is the body of God; it is the logical and necessary outcome of the infinite self-knowingness of God.

WE BELIEVE in the individualization of the Spirit in us, and that all people are individualizations of the One Spirit.

WE BELIEVE in the eternality, the immortality and the continuity of the individual soul, forever and ever expanding.

WE BELIEVE that heaven is within us, and that we experience it to the degree that we become conscious of it.

WE BELIEVE the ultimate goal of life to be a complete freedom from all discord of every nature, and that this goal is sure to be attained by all.

WE BELIEVE in the unity of all life, and that the highest God and the innermost God is one God. We believe that God is personal to all who feel this indwelling presence.

WE BELIEVE in the direct revelation of truth through our intuitive and spiritual nature, and that anyone may become a revealer of truth who lives in close contact with the indwelling God.

WE BELIEVE that the Universal Spirit, which is God, operates through a Universal Mind, which is the Law of God; and that we are surrounded by this Creative Mind which receives the direct impress of our thought and acts upon it.

WE BELIEVE in the healing of the sick and control of conditions through the power of this Mind

WE BELIEVE in the eternal Goodness, the eternal Loving-kindness and the eternal Givingness of Life to All.

WE BELIEVE in our own soul, our own spirit and our own destiny; for we understand that the life of all is God.
